Mr touche got me removed from the PCGS board last night over this. I called him an idiot after his post insulting the members here and I got the boot. I don't blame PCGS. I broke the rules. After 9 years of posting there, one word got me kicked off. Today has not been a good day. Woke up to my home being flooded by the rains and I can do nothing but wait for the rain to stop before starting to clean up the mess. What a great weekend.
Hey! What about collector and dealer? :smile ldhair, I'm sorry to hear about all that's been happening to you. I hope everything works out and gets better for you. Man PCGS is a bust! You can't defend another forum or give an opinion on what you believe to be true because their way to solve it is by poofing or banning you? I had a chance to defend CoinTalk but I think the thread was removed because I no longer see it.
Good luck with your cleanup. It even looks like there is more rain coming. If it keeps this up much more, it is really going to get serious.
Thanks guys. It's times like this that make me feel better about having paid the price of insurance. You are right rlm's the next wave of storms are almost here. 60 mph winds. This should be fun.
Hang in there Larry. I know what it's like to experiance flooding. It ain't pretty and the clean up is a $%*&^.
I too was banned from the boards last night, all I did was stick up for Doug and Lehigh, didn't do any name calling. Handled the situation pretty well, and to be honest Larry, you said what was needed to be said. Although I wish I could've taken two bullets, rather than both of us receiving the one bullet.
I'm also sorry about the flooding you're having Larry, it's just a bear to have to deal with all the aftermath, but we'll be thinking about you in any event. Regarding the CU forum, it's too bad you both had to get banned, you both have so much to offer the coin community and it's just too bad the PCGS people didn't get that. But it's an even worse shame that the other guy didn't get banned as well. But on the bright side, now you'll just have to spend more time here!!!
Seems to me like it is... A lot of the people that are there are complete jokes, Touche was one of them. There is a lot of knowledge on that forum, but there is also a lot of money, and I think in most cases, on that forum, people's money weighs out their common sense and manners. I wouldn't recommend that forum to any beginning collector, and I don't think the majority of the collectors here could handle it, I know I couldn't a while ago.
Not trying to sound overly "motherly," and I know the CU forum has its issues and I too wouldn't necessarily recommend that a newbie join right in, but keep in mind, there is a huge amount of knowledge and expertise there, even with/in spite of all the high dollar collectors, so let's not start "bashing" them here, like they did to us there. Sometimes it's actually better for some just to "lurk" on certain forums rather than participate. Often, more can be learned from listening rather than "speaking."
Charmy, I have lurked on that forum for years. The knowledge does not get posted anymore. All of the posts and threads are a series of one liners. Nobody takes the time to create a lengthy post because there work will be on page three and ignored two hours later because of the level of activity on the forum. As a result, there is very little that forum has to offer these days. I joined the forum recently and have approximately 25 posts. I have already been attacked twice. Both times I was trying to have a discussion with another member and a troll who had no previous posts in the thread came right out an attacked me. BTW, how do you know that Touche was not banned from the CU forum as well last night. Paul
Paul, I still find some useful threads there, sometimes educational, but more often simnply informative, especially when it comes to what's going on in the coin community, what the latest market info is, coin show reviews, etc. But for me, threads like the finest known 1909 VDB MPL, and the discussion about the new 1909 MPL die variety discovery (which were on the Registry forum), neat errors that people post, etc. are what interest me. There are certainly much more controversial threads there, and people who like to cause trouble, but to me that forum still has a lot to offer, in different ways than this forum. It really doesn't have to be "either or." Regarding Touche, I'm not sure, but when you click on the icons on any of his posts, you can still send him a pm, so I'm assuming that means he's still an active member there, but perhaps that isn't a true indication, just my assumption.
Yeah, that is not a good indicator. I can still send Larry and T$ a PM as well. It is not my intention to bash the CU forum but I am not happy about what happened in that thread. Apparently, it is okay to disparage members of other forums. Doug took a beating in that thread. I was trying to find out why Saor Abla either left or was banned from this forum and out of nowhere this guy Touche attacks me. He called me small potatoes trying to be a big shot by hanging with a bunch of kids. BTW, the members of this forum are the kids. Of course both T$ and Larry took offense as any CT member would. I was careful not to go back at Touche and basically kept posting "who are you?" indicating that engaging him was beneath me. I signed on this morning and the entire thread was gone. Ironically, I think it was ArizonaJack that resurrected the thread. That thread was at least a year old before it was revived. All I know is that if the CU forums had quality moderators like the ones on Cointalk (especially Doug), that forum would not need to be banning 10 year members for a minor infraction.
Charmy, you can still send me a PM and I was banned. My guess is Touche was banned, there is no way they treated me and Larry as the instigators. They had to have banned him. Also when a forum bans its members who do have things to offer, it is only a matter of time before that forum is even worse than how Paul described.
LeHigh, Saor Abla got in a dispute with another member here. It was not a CT think but one on one personal problems. I can't recall it all but I do think Saor Abla was in the right on it.
Paul and Travis, I get what you're saying, and it is very heavy handed of PCGS to just ban members so quickly, but even as heavy handed as it is, perhaps that's how they are trying to "clean" things up over there. In any event, I would not be happy about it either and it truly is their loss, but much more our gain over here on CT!
