    Hi,

Is this planchet flaw is significant or not on this Minesota Quarter? It is not a very profond mark but the shape and place is interesting. Maybe it is too common... :smile

    Thanks.

    Cd,

It is hard to tell if it is a planchet flaw or a strikethrough, but it probably wouldn't add greatly to the value of the coin. It can make an interesting conversation piece and worthy of keeping, but that's about it.

    Thank you Chris!

  5. It's a coin that has been struck through grease. It is an error but it is common.

Not to say that it is not very cool. I have found about 8 of them in circulation since May 2008, and I've saved every one. Seems to be most common on coins from the 2000s.

It looks like it's struck through a small piece of debris.

i'm not sold on the struck thru grease hypothesis, it looks like there is a depression where the questionable area is. we're splitting hairs between two types of insignificant errors, though.

I think it was a debris strikethrough, too. One of the employees was probably eating Doritos too close to the coining press.
