I bought this from Mark Feld. I wasn't in the market for a high grade Washington quarter, but the piece has a wonderful golden flash in hand and I like the colorful toning. So, I decided to buy it.

These pics are from Todd Pollock and while they show the golden luster quite nicely, the detail is missing on the bust and on the tail feathers (it does exist).

Let me know what you think and feel free to post a favorite Washie of yours, regardless of grade.

I think high grade WQs are wonderful coins and I must have two dozen pieces hidden away. Here is a neat one-

Sweet coin Cat and superb photos from Todd as always. I am really glad I never got addicted to Washington Quarters, they really can be beautiful coins. I am however addicted to poker.

    I see your 1944-S Washington Quarter and I raise you a 1944-P, 1944-D, and a $1 Borgata check.

    ...lol..."not on purpose"

Was there ever a time when you liked the white ones?
I think when I started I liked Blast White ones best but now a day's I like both.
And it seems hard to mix them in the same set though.

In 1999 I had a complete short set of PCGS MS66 FB (except 1942/1 & 1945) and every single coin was blast white. I collected PF69 DCAM Silver Proof State Quarters (with the flags) and I loved my blast white Barber Quarter Dansco. I continued what I call my Chardonnay days until I saw this coin in a Heritage Signature sale in 2001.

I could not have asked for a better introduction into the toned coin world. It was the first coin that truly spoke to me. The rainbow sea was an incredible sight to behold. Alas I had to trade the coin along with a substantial amount of money to obtain a coin that basically defines my collection: EYE APPEAL.

It is also the only way I can keep up with Charmy.

That's a great Pilgrim...never saw that one from you before. I first notice the sea's colors too!! I have a few Pilgrim's and they are just plain ol' Pilgrim's.

And as for Charmy, well Good luck there. If I were you I'd stick with being the Silver Version of Charmy and do away with that silly copper ;)

The only way I am getting rid of that IHC is if she buys it.

I'd make her trade you for a stunning Toned Silver coin then :D

I really don't think she has any. She is faithful to the copper coins she loves. I have all kinds of affairs, even darkside brass.
