I've rec'd two emails form coin/bullion dealers and both of them offering a presale on 2023 ASEs. Both of these companies are asking more than double the spot price of silver. I do like silver eagles, but this to me is getting ridiculous.
If I didn’t need one for an album collection, I’d let them keep their silver eagles. You’re right: it’s ridiculous.
It is insanely ridiculous but people keep buying so they keep raising the prices. Not for me as I gave up on these along time ago.
I stopped with the last of the original series. I have all of them except for the new style. I will never buy a new coin - that is a new production series coin. The US Mint can make all the ballast they want, just like the USPS is making wallpaper.
Not sure where you've been for the past few years, but 'getting' ridiculous was a few years ago. It has been beyond ridiculous for quite some time now. Like @Inspector43 and @Collecting Nut I stopped buying anything from the Mint probably 6-7 years ago. Their offerings bore me, and their prices offend me. No thank you, I've moved on.
For years I've purchased 22 of these. I have two collections of these and with 22 I'd have 20 for a rainy day or some to sell, and I didn't have to pay any shipping. I told my self every year if they ever doubled the spot price I would pass them up. In truth I will probably buy the 2 only. The only problem it makes me feel I am justifying these prices if I buy any.
And I quit stamp collecting long before that. I was still working for them but I just couldn’t deal with all those stamps. They ruined stamp collecting.
