No such thing as a 1879-S over O variety.

You're right! No "O" under the "S". He's just another sleazeBay seller who is lying through his teeth. No returns on this one unless you can prove with documentation that he is wrong. Of course, he bought it for that reason, and probably discovered that he was cheated because he doesn't know anything about VAM's (he calls it an error).

Lol he got me. I thought he said "I'm not sure if it is" not "I'm sure it's not".

I say it sells for $72.50 (My high bid for this new rare variety :goofer:).

Talk about hook, line, and sinker.

Sent the seller an email informing them there is no such Morgan with an S/O mm. Also informed them they have 3rd reverse 1879-S.

    Can't wait for the reply.

It looks like an S/S to me. There are quite a few S/S varieties on the 79 S.

I bet he was took on this coin when he bought it.

Makes you wonder if he's calling the O in DOLLAR the O the mm S is over!

    From the sellers description:

Up for bid is a 1879-S over O Morgan silver dollar in mid mint state condition. There is no return unless proven beyond a reasonable doult by a grader with signature papers that there is not an O under the S. I won this coin on Ebay in the past which was described the same way. This is a ligitimate error on this coin.

I wish there was a way to contact the buyer and warn them this is a fraud.

I received the reply. I have to edit much of the vocabulary:

    Dear [edited]

who in the **** do you think you are? apparently you don't know how to read descriptions ya dumb***. To bad you didn't win and take it to PCGS to find out if it was real or fake. Ebay has no say because I went by the book, besides bidding already took place, ya dumb***, if the buyer isn't happy and wants to return than he/she may do so, so keep out of it, ya dumb***!

    Sheesh!

He's under the impression that I actually was dumb enough to bid on this nonsense and I'm a sore loser.

Received this one this morning and I hadn't replied to the first one:

What's wrong with people is that there are tooooo many scammers and not enough honest people. Like this seller, he's trying to intimidate you (or any other buyer) into thinking that he was right and YOU were wrong. What does this tell you? Buy only slabbed items on ebay
