Hopefully, my pictures are good enough for you guys/gals. I found this roll searching, and I just am not sure about it. What do you think?
It has the pinched edge. But it also on obv and rev has circular marks. Looks to me like the "errors" are too clean to be just some random post damage. Anyone else, thoughts?
The part across Abe's bust looks like a counting machine circle. The other? I would think post mint, just not sure. Mike'll know.
I have a theory... I think post mint too, and I think someone had a 1909-s that they were trying to hammer a v.d.b. into... Put them together, one whack with a hammer, missed slightly but enough to put the rim of the 09 into the 08, and the hammer glanced off and slightly pinched the 08... :hail:
does it have the same curvature of a penny? Ice How do you mean? It is bent a little bit from the force it received whenever this stuff happened. The circular marks appear to be a "pinch" from a cent sized circular device, then the "pinch" could be it finally getting hit with the circular device a second time on ejection from machine. Very clean cuts and hits... Other than that I just don't know.
I think he is asking if the curved line pressed in this coin matches the curvature of another cent... In other words, did another cent get pressed into this one in some fashion...
yeah, and he would have the three periods to deal with, but hey, scam artists aren't known for intelligence... he would probably put it on ebay for $1,000,000 as a 1909-s backward vdb ultra-rare error...
I still think its mint made. Look at the obverse rim where its squished down. Looks as if this coin didn't make it all the way out and barely got caught by the incoming planchet. At the bottom of the indentation it seems to look like a rim pressed into this coin... maybe...
