1854-O $3 Gold Eagle.

Crap quality pics, but I'm interested in hearing what you guys think this would grade at, and what it's worth. I'm thinking XF40 or thereabouts? Which would make it worth about $1500 or so?

It's gonna be tough to get better pics for about two weeks. I'll post them up as soon as I possibly can, though.

I'm thinking it's just washed out. It's definitely real, though.

 

So assuming it's been cleaned, how badly does that impact the value? It's still a fairly low number mintage with only 24k made.

Don't have the coin in hand, so no. It's up for sale at an estate, however I wouldn't be able to get to look at it until the 17th, so I'm trying to have the sellers take better pictures of it. Emailed them yesterday evening, so... Waiting to hear back.

 

Hmm, AU seems to be worth 800-1000, XF is 700ish, and just downwards from there. Assuming it's cleaned, that is.

Much better pics have arrived! Not sure on the coloring, still, but the details look much better.

 

Let me ask you, what would you pay for this coin? Or would you not buy it at all?
