I'll be there at my usual table 848 - Charmy Harker aka The Penny Lady

Stop by for some wine and snacks!!!

She's more generous on the other forum (above)! Maybe she will share with us too.

I should caution her that, by serving wine and snacks, she will be violating the Show rules. Perhaps she will heed a few friendly words of advice from a Long Beach show veteran.

Oh well, I hope that she and all of the other participants have a great show.

I won't be there (I live on the East Coast).
But MFD will be there with my wantlist.
And I've made two bids in the Heritage auction.

MBT, what is your problem?!? Are you here just to pick a fight? FYI, Long Beach has no rule about alcohol - they even used to serve beer at the snack bar. Why don't you just stop creating problems where there is none. And everyone who stops by my my table is welcome to my wine - except YOU!

With all due respect young lady, please read the rules of The Long Beach Coin & Collectibles Expo and you will see that exhibitors are not permitted to dispense food or beverage. I am trying to help you avoid embarrassment and comply with proper show decorum as you obviously are oblivious to custom and practice at large coin shows. Otherwise, you would understand what is, and is not, appropriate. Your inexperience is showing, but we all should live and learn.

    Have a great show!

You don't know what you're talking about and are just trying to stir up more trouble, as usual. Of course I have read the agreement, I signed it. There is no such provision for the Long Beach show - the ANA shows have such a provision, but Expos Unlimited agreements do not contain that restriction.

I have no idea what I've done to deserve your condescending abuse. You continually single me out and attack me here on these boards without any cause, so I am requesting that you stop.

The day ANY dealer or collector takes advice from you, is the day I start collecting modern proofs. (Nothing against Modern collectors, just not for me)

do coins sells for more or less at coin shows. I have never been (live in MO) but i always heard that stuff sells cheap or way over. Just wondering for future references

Neither one really. People always have this idea that any 2 coins in the same given grade sell for the same amount - they don't. In fact it is extremely rare for that to happen. But that is because no two coins are the same. Somebody is always going to like one or the other more than they like the other one and thus pay more for it.

The advantage of going to coin shows is that there are so many coins there. And if you are searching for a particular coin or group of coins you are very likely going to be able to choose from among many of each one.

It's kind of like this - a small kid gets the candy his mom brings home, maybe even 2 or 3 candies. He's stuck with those options. That's what happens when you go to your local coin shop - you're stuck with what the local dealer has to offer.

Now imaging how that kid would feel if he walked into a candy store the size of a Walmart ! One that had nothing but candy.

That's what you will experience at a large coin show.

I'm going up Thursday to look for a Sheldon 2-4 chain cent in VG-F. Do any of you Coin Talkers that will be exhibiting have something like that in your inventory?

For those at CT who are going to the show, stop by and see my coin exhibit at Table 1248. It is on Egyptian coins of the Muhammad Ali Pasha dynasty.

    That is a spot-on analogy.

If my proceedure goes as planned today, I should be able to make it there for every day.... Living 20 minutes away does have it's advantages....
