be as kind as you can I found this coin in an old Jeep I just bought and I tried to scan in some images of it. I would love to hear your opinion on what's going on with it! One side is mostly blank but seems to have some details that may correspond to Jefferson's hair doo?!? The other side is pretty messed up, and someone tac welded something to it at some point thanks!
PMD. now i have to ask, the old jeep, was it a ww2 willys? the reverse appear to be from a welding torch, some jeeps we're indeed used as welding trucks and it wouldn't suprise me at all if some GI got bored and did this. Us soldiers we get bored sometimes and find very funny ways to stay entertained lol thanks!
Well its not a WW2 jeep, but I think it was a US forest service Jeep (its from Colorado and is that forest service/border patrol pistachio green and has a red #5 painted on the firewall) so your theory may still be true, sad, but true. So its not worth thousands of dollars? Technically the jeep's a 1956 CJ5, similar, but a civilian version of a Korean War era M38A1. So you think the blank side is warn off from being welded to the Jeep somewhere as a joke? It weighs 5 grams (according to my european kitchen scale).
More likely it was ground down. and i don't have a firm answer of what happened to it, no one ever will but i am certain its PMD
