The 1857 flying eagle is slabbed by PCGS (EF-45) Struck through metal. I'm pretty sure this is silver - any other reasonable possibilities on this one?

The 1908-S Indian cent is slabbed by NGC (AU-58) Struck through metal. Look at the 2nd T in STATES thorugh the first two feathers and the LIB in LIBERTY. I don't believe it has the color of gold, but it also doesn't look like it is copper. Any ideas on this one?

Both are beauties. Would there be any reason why the mint would have silver or gold foil on the premices? I don't know if they had it back then or not...

Good question but I don't have a clue Abe. It sure looks like a little scrap of silver on the 1857 though.
