I have a coin with arabic inscriptions on it. I can't read the text but the numerals say 1327 which I assume to be 1327AH or 1906CE. Can someone tell me what this coin is and how much it is worth? Thanks, Amit
It is either a 25, 50, or 100 kurush from Turkey, dated AH 1327 year 3 (1911 AD). The weights are 1.8g, 3.6g, or 7.2g depending on the denomination.
Milled coinage of Muhammad V, minted at Constantinople. KM#754, 22K+ (.9170) gold, AGW .2125 oz., with bullion value about $256, which significantly exceeds the top value listed in my 2008 35th Ed. Krause (XF) of $150. The image looks to be in the AU range, although if its a scan the coin may be UNC, with a lot of luster that isn't showing up in the picture, so it should be worth a premium over melt.
This one is older - 1200/17 - 1798? It's weight is 7g. Is it a an Ottoman 100 Kurush as well? It shows some wear on one side. Can anyone estimate its value? Thanks, Amit
The date on the coin is 1255 year 17, or 1855 AD. At 7g it would be a 100 kurush, minted in Istanbul. As with the first coin, the denomination is not written. Cannot give you a price but this is a relatively common date.
