I looked at the feedback that that seller has recieved as a "buyer".
The most recent item he "bought" that he received feedback for was 1000 coin wrappers.

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=310212050742

All of this seller's preceeding feedback received as a "buyer" has been from unsearched rolls or bags of unsearched wheats.

It is always a good idea to see what the person selling an item is actually buying themselves.

    Not necessarily.
From my own personal experience in buying "unsearched" rolls of wheats over the past 4 months , I can tell you that even if the seller didn't search the rolls , that someone has searched through the cents that are in the rolls at some point in time and nearly all key dates are gone or if there is a key date in the roll it will more than likely be a cull coin in less than AlmostGood condition.

Please do not be dis-heartened by my jaded view of "unsearched" rolls , but it does help to research ( as thoroughly as possible ) any item that you are going to buy sight un-seen.

I still gamble on wheat rolls sometimes but I only go for the ones where I know that the end coins are valuable and I can see their general conditions in the provided photographs. I know they cost way more than your typical $9.00 unsearched wheat rolls but they really hurt a lot less when the unknown contents inside are all at least in fine or better condition.

    Check out this seller:

This is probably the only roll seller I will buy from in the future & only when the end coins would absolutely bring a premium.

i just found a 1940 and another 1957(well this one is a D). but they still have luster! i never found anything but brown wheats, now in 2 days i find 3 shiny ones. i just hope my next one will be an 09-s-vdb! i can then toss out that pesky brown, filler!

Question for unsearched rolls of wheat pennies. How come sometimes the ends have like a mercury dime on the end if it is suppose to be a penny roll?

To entice buyers to buy the rolls in hope that there's more in there.

I buy rolls sometimes too, but I try to get a price around 5 cents a coin. I bought 16 rolls last month for $45, so 800 coins at 5.6 cents per coin. I know most of them will be common, but at 5-6 cents a coin I still think they are worth it.

I guess I am saying, I seriously doubt any of the 'unsearched' auctions, so assume they are all common and price accordingly. I have never done those rolls with valuable coins showing, but I might try, as long as they are pennies. I would not by a penny roll with some other denomination showing, because clearly those rolls were put together like that intentionally.

    Lincolnhoardr: Congrats, nice box!!!!

I had my best box in a few weeks today as well.
    2 64
    2 66
    7 67
    4 69
    for a total of 2 90%ers and 13 40%ers. :D

The box was quite the strange though, about 75% of the box were MS 2000P coins.

Have one more to go through, hoping for more (silver)........ :)

Have you hugged your teller today?

Guys, I know you may be getting tired of teller posts but I am a roll searcher by heart. Problem is my tellers are getting me a lot more silver than my boxes lately. Today I stopped in one of my banks to make a deposit. My teller says "we had a customer with what looked liked some old halves dump them in the machine." Anyway, she asks if I want to look...she pulls out the container and right away I see a walker on top. She dumps all the coins on the counter and WE go through them. Total find:

    3 walker halves 1936, 1940, 1943
18 1964's All in INCREDIBLE shape
    21 40%'ers

I spent $21 on the halves and $3 on snow cones for the tellers and in return I got over $175 in silver. She got a hug lol.

As soon as I can find my wife's camera I will post a pic.

Bob, nice box...jealous as my boxes have been in a long rutt

I had a little trouble with the camera but here are 2 shots. I hope you will be able to zoom in for a little better view. The roll in the first pic is the 1964's with the 3 walkers on top. The second pic in a litle bit zoomed in of the 90%ers.

    Sorry not better pics...
