Can anyone recommend a good camera for taking pictures of coins and currency? I have been on line and there are a bazillion cameras with LITTLE information about macro photography. I would like to stay in the $200-$400 range. I think I prefer a compact over a subcompact and a SLR. I have got big hands. I don't want to have to go back to school to learn how to run the camera. A few manual adjustments would be OK. It looks to me that Canon, Sony and Panasonic seem to be the ones that are reliable based on research so far.

Everyone has their own preferences. Currently, I'm using the Canon Powershot Pro 1. It has a built-in zoom and super macro function, but I would eventually like to move up to a Nikon DSLR. I'd prefer to be able to interchange lenses so that I can use it not only for coin photos but nature and wildlife photography as well. Chris
Pentax make a few nice low price cameras,that what I have and it 10 year old.and there a few lop that will fit to the lens too:kewl:
I have a powershot s5 is for a few years now and it has a super macro feature. I think it takes great pics. My only issue is lighting but thats my own fault, not the cameras. They can be had fairly cheap nowadays cause it is old for a digi cam.
