I recently posted a couple coins depicting the city gate building in Trier Germany. It got me looking at other coins in my collection with landmark buildings on them. I’ll post a couple here. I have several but only a very few of them have attractive designs IMO.

I know the names of a couple of these buildings but not all of them. If you know information about the building(s), please post it. Of course, if you have coins with buildings on them, please show us a picture.

    Egypt
    Building unknown
It looks like a Mosque but which one is it?

    Which Cathedral is it?

    Vatican City
    Building unknown
The coin commemorates World Youth Day but I don’t believe that the cathedral depicted is inside the Vatican City walls.

Is this based upon a real castle somewhere?

    Hamburg Germany
    Building unknown
The white castle is the coat of arms for Hamburg but is it based upon a real castle somewhere in the free state of Hamburg?

It is the Muhammad Ali mosque in Cairo, commissioned by Muhammad Ali Pasha in the early 1800's. He is also the leader that brought about an important coinage reform. The structure sits on a steep hill and thus is visible from various point in the city. If the air is clear enough anyway.

I believe it is St. Sofias in Istambul, Turkey. This may be a generic, composite non-existant structure. If it documented a certain mosque, it would have a caption or date. After reviewing your other coins I believe most of the architecture is a composit.

I recognize the Lincoln Memorial in Washington & the Golden Temple in Bangkok. I've visited both. The building on the Bank Indonesia coin is very cool but I have no idea what it is.

Good eye. I looked at the photos of St Sofias & it has four rather distinct towers. This building on the Egypt coin looks very similar but it is actually Muhammad Ali mosque in Cairo as acanthite suggested. Here is a link to a photo/video of the Muhammad Ali Mosque.

Well, the Vatican coin is fairly easy. It is the Cologne Cathedral which is where the World Youth Day was held that year.

Here is a photo I took years ago of the Golden Temple. I cropped it to show the portion that is depicted on the Thailand coin posted above.
