The NGC Registry just unveiled a cool new feature that y'all might want to check out. Its called the slideshow, and works just like how you think it might - it plays a slideshow of the pictures in a Registry set. I highly recommend you check it out. Yes, it is a cool feature. Unfortunately for me, most of the top registry sets of Morgan dollars don't have photos. If someone is going to build a competitive registry set, I think that photos should be required. To me, that is like someone who wants to win a blue ribbon at the county fair for the best apple pie but won't allow anyone to taste it. Chris
I like this feature very much. A great way to view a collection. It also now gives me the motivation to ensure that all of my registry photos are current and 700 x 700 pixels. Jason, I never realized how nice your Franklin set was until I viewed your slideshow. And that 1948 is an incredible start. Personally, I think it is the most eye appealing coin in the set. And we all know you can present a registry set. And Chris, just for you, I have quoted the third paragraph in my registry set description. I think it sums up your feelings very well. "Registry sets are typically all about grade, the number on the plastic, and points, the number on the screen. The majority of the registry participants simply list their coins in the appropriate slot never bothering to photograph or describe their coins. There is no doubt that the highest grade should be rewarded, but just as toning is only the start to eye appeal; grade is only the start to a great coin or collection. A great collection must have it all. Each coin should be superlative in one way or another, whether it is a top pop with blazing luster, a monster toner with undeniable eye appeal, or a hammered strike on a normally weakly struck issue, it must be special. Regardless of what attributes make the coin special, a number can never describe a great coin. I wouldn’t even know how to evaluate a collection without photos & descriptions." I don't know about you guys, but I almost covet the best presented awards more than those who win the award for just being 1st in the rankings. Being 1st requires only money, Best Presented requires passion and pride.

Great set of Franklins. I really like the toning on the 1956 and of course I really like the Bugs Bunny variety. TC
Just a thought: With the implementation of the slide show (which I like), NGC might wish to consider giving extra points for each coin that has an image in the Registry. Therefore a lesser set with images might be able to beat out a better set that doesn't have images. It would be an incentive to get your items imaged. Would it be a security problem? I don't think so. If you have an NGC Registry Set you've already advertised at least part of what you own. Images aren't going to change that. Plus images could help IF a robbery were to occur. Opinions?
That slideshow is a GREAT feature!! And I too like the 48 alot but that 49 is very good too. And the toning on the 58 is really pretty.!!

Darn Illini! I've seen alot of your 09's but not together like that...and didn't know you had the gold too! The Barber Dimes all looks so different in the pictures but I can't pick which I like better. Very nice set indeed. And LeHigh I too think that the way it is presented is very important as it does show the person's passion and not their pocketbook.
Very cool feature. I can view Physics set( I've been there many times) without all the mousing. Illini, thats a great looking date set. I was considering a 1909 set since I have a killer half eagle and a few more (quite challenging though). This feature does make me want to get the pics in my buffalo nickel set improved and sized.
Thanks!! The set has been pretty challenging, especially since I decided to go for the gold as well... just have the 1909-O $5 left and that is indeed a big one!!! Thanks. If you're going to start with 1909 set, a good way to start is to maybe just do a 1909 type set (i.e. one barber quarter, one dime, one half, one $20 Saint, one IHC, one Lincoln, etc.) That way you can get one of each of the awesome 1909 designs without having to chase down each mintmark. You can also avoid the expense of the several key dates if you did that. I sort of lucked out with my pics it seems. I love how the new slideshow has the black background and since my pics had a black background too they sort of blend together quite nicely. Also, I have the obverse and reverse uploaded in a single photo which didn't look the best in the old gallery style on the NGC registry, but with this slideshow I'm very impressed. Looking forward to checking out some more slideshows on the NGC site now. Before, I didn't spend too much time looking at registry sets as I didn't find the gallery too user friendly. But now, I'll be looking at the collections of others much more frequently. Well done!!!!!

Been gone for a few days and catching up. The slide show is a great idea, good for showing folks my coins from afar.
Okay, I'm intrigued. I'm going to have to go over and look at my type set. Considering its size, a slide show is certainly a bonus. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 10 Minutes Later ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It certainly works ... and well! Also exposed the inconsistency of my photographic techniques over time.
