Perhaps. This entire thread has been about an 1885 as shown in most of the photos.

He was using it as a comparison coin.

Thank you for your patience when I go off on a tangent.

If you could take a high rez scan of the coin it would put all this bickering to bed. If you want you can email me to photo and I can host it on my server if it gets too large for the forum to handle as an attachment or the free image hosters (photobucket, etc).

I would think a 600 or 1200 dpi scan would provide enough detail for sufficient scrutiny :)

The pictures he has are sufficient. The coin is simply not a Proof - no way no how.

Bump... 11 days since he first posted about it... has it been sent in for grading yet?

I doubt it goes to a grading company.

Guys, lets just let this thread die. It's clear that an agreement is not going to be met between the owner and us unless it is submitted and the owner didn't say when that was going to to happen. Who knows if we will ever find out. I say, let it go and if we ever hear about it down the road we will find out then. Doing anything before that is pointless. Plus, we have already made our own determinations about this coin anyway.

Maybe it was a proof wrapper on a chocolate coin?

PCGS is not in Columbus Ohio.

I don't think there are any coin grading companies in Columbus. ANACS used to be in Ohio but I think they have since moved.
