An image could go a long way in helping folks here, help you with this. From what you say, yes it has value.
According to Numismedia values a mint state 1870 seated liberty dollar can vary from a couple thousand to a million and a quarter, it depends on condition and mintmark. The 1870 s is the high ticket item in ms-63, a regular philly one in ms-61 is a couple thou. If you have a 1870 morgan or trade or any other type dollar it is a fantasy piece, it still might have some worth if it was produced using precious metals.
Look on the reverse below the Eagle and see if it has a mintmark. None is likely, CC is great and S means you hit the lotto assuming it is genuine. Also, it's very unlikely it would have been used as jewelry and not been cleaned or polished. While this makes it shiny, it hurts value for collectors.

Please do not take offense at what I am about to write, but if the piece you have is an 1870-S then I can assure you that the chances of it being real are essentially zero. It may or may not have been in your family collection for decades, but it is also a very well known rarity and has been a well known rarity for over a century. Real specimens sell for upwards of one million dollars.
Sorry to say but I agree with Treashunt. How are you so sure it's not fake? If you knew that much you probably would not be asking about it here. Many collectors after decades of collecting can be taken by fakes as they can be real good fakes sometimes. And don't give me that "it's been in my family for years" stuff as they could have gotten it as a fake before you received it or even know it was a fake but thought it was cool. Plus it was on a mount and that can and usually does damage the coins too. I'm not saying it is not cool or worth money. Just agreeing with Treashunt that you should not get to excited yet as you just don't know. A picture sure would help.
