fake ???

    hi, I have 2 denarius of elagabalus but I don't know if the first one is good or fake,

    can you help me?

    The first one looks like a cast fake to me from the photo. Also, the plural for denarius is denarii...

    hard to see on my comp but just looks like normal pitting to me :eek:

    The picture doesn't bring out the color enough, but I'd say the one on the left is an ancient counterfeit.

    I'm almost sure as well. The left specimen has that phony "shimmer" to it, granular sparkling.

    Rub a known genuine specimen between your thumb and index finger. Then rub the questionable specimen between your thumb and index finger. Is the questionable one "slicker" to the rub?
