First off, to all the posters, great Peace Dollars. Those are some really remarkable coins. Makes me wish to own a couple.

Now, I know this is probably a stupid question, but seems fitting to bring it up here in this thread...what the heck is a VAM? I searched and from what I gather it's basically a couple of guys combined initials and is typically used to designate a die variation? (Not sure if it's solely for die variations, errors, or both??) Also, what's with all the lettering and numbering? I keep seeing differences in letters and numbers after the VAM designation in both Peace and Morgan threads. If anyone is willing to answer or to provide a link I would be grateful. Thanks and keep the Peace Dollars coming. Love looking at threads like these!

Definition: A VAM Number is a number which has been assigned to a Peace or Morgan Dollar die variety by the authors of an important book called The Comprehensive Catalog and Encyclopedia of Morgan and Peace Dollars by Leroy C. Van Allen and A. George Mallis.

    Lovecoins,

It's interesting but MS67 appears to be the highest grade recorded for Peace Dollars (by PCGS at least).

The 1923 MS67 is the least expensive going around $5,000.

The most expensive MS67's in the Peace series run up towards $100,000.
    That's a wow price
