Poor example, that is a proof. The way they are made makes for a better chance of getting a perfect specimen. MS70 is a totally different beast.
It's all relative to what you collect. I'm hot-to-trot on early American coinage. Some people get all worked up about perfect modern stuff. My answer and the answer of someone who collects it are going to be completely different. The fact is that I have an NGC MS70 Eagle sitting on my desk that is going back for an appearance review because the reverse of the coin has several large milk spots. So IMO no they are not all perfect. Do I understand it? not really. Do I apprecieate it? of course.
Seventy, shmeventy... Most of em' ain't any different than a 69, sure maybe on a handful there are slight differences in certain imperfections, and I'm pretty sure every coin will have something wrong with it, no such thing as a 70, a PERFECT coin. People start ooooing and awing over 70's, for reasons I don't know why (except for registry sets), maybe Mike Mezack brainwashed them.
Without being able to really look at the coin in hand, it's rather difficult to make that determination from a scan, or picture.
Ballot box stuffing! Voter intimidation! Hanging chads! If you can't convice then, confuse them! Hogwash! Chris
haha! how do you think *insert name here* got elected!? if i just speak jiberish, nobody will understand, and that makes my 1 vote go over the top!!
I can see you didn't read any of the educational posts. Why don't you start a poll on admitting Mexico and Cuba as the 51st & 52nd states? Chris
Are you guys telling me that I really don't have a 70!! I do believe in a perfect coin and if you were to hold this coin in your hand you might agree!!
OR....you could collect like me, and not worry what somebody else says about them, and just collect what you want to collect. Some people get so worked up about numbers I question if they even actually LOOK at the coins!
Of course there is no such thing as a perfect coin. But.... a coin can get a 70 if it is a full strike and there is no post mint damage. I've never seen the word perfect used by the TPG's to desccribe a 70. There will always be some overgrades and undergrades  (they are still expert opinions). Every coin graded 70 would have to be evaluated individually by experts to determine it did not meet the criteria (you said you were talking PCGS and NGC only).
Evorlor, this is the second thread you have started about MS70 and or PF70. I would recommend you doing a little more research before making blanket statements like you have. The top three TPGers do not give out these high grades on very many coins. Normally there are less than 200 per year per TPGer out of millions of coins minted. I dont think that is an over abundance of the high grade. Also if you will look at the differant auction houses for these high grade coins and see how much they bring. If they were giving them out like candy as you say, the supply would over whelm the market and therefor the prices would be a lot lower. If you dont believe me, check out heritage, ebay, and teletrade and see what these coins are going for. You can also go to coin facts on PCGS website and see how many have een graded at that high level on these coins. Like some one else said earlier, the coins at the mint are made with a lot more care today than they were years ago so having a coin graded 65 means almost nothing. Almost all proof coins from the mint are 69 with a few graded at 70. To comment on your second statement that all coins have flaws, I agree to some degree. Like the old saying goes, if you have a witch hunt long enough you will eventually find a witch. If you look at a coin long enough, you will eventually find some flaw but for the standards of that TPGer, the coin has reached the 70 grade. They are still humans grading these coins so if you get a differant person at the same TPGer when you send a coin back in, sometimes you will get a differant grade but anything done by people is subject to opinion. With coins, there are no exacts and never have been and if you can figure out a way to get the same grade every time on every coin, you will get rich. I got a little long winded but I just wanted to get my point accross that before you make blanket statements, do the research. Just because you dont understand it or it seems "stupid" to you, doesnt make it wrong. Just my opinion
