I received my 2010 proof quarters from the mint. Is it possible to make more boring coins? I thought that at least one state quarter each year had some redeeming value, but really, these things are boring. Right up there with presidentials.
Ok, ok....I understand 56 quarters having nothing more on the reverse than nature scenes can be slightly boring to some. But presidentials boring...oh, now that is just uncalled for. Oh well, I guess that's why I'm one of the few to collect the presidents. Hopefully those Park Quarters will have better representation of each park as they go along....well, knowing them, probably not. Sorry you were so disappointed.
Actually I am quite pleased..more so then I originally thought I would be. I am glad that i purchased a set and cant wait till i purchase a couple silver proof sets. -Shrek
I also received my Proof quarter sets today and someone let me know, what happen to Washington? For a proof coin set, that is suppose to have been struck several times, where is the relief? Washington's hair has no lines, no facial features, neck lines? Is this a new way to make proofs or a change for this series? Washington just looks like he has satin finish and really smooth, is everyone elses sets like that?
So where's the pic's? I'm still waitin' on mine. FedX's got 'em in Jersey. Should be here tomorrow....
I will try to post some pics. Still on the learning curve. I was disappointed in Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon in particular. Yellowstone was predicatable (buff and geyser) and Grand Canyon just did not translate to coin well at all. I think maybe the scenic is just hard on a coin. Hot Springs was in many respects better. As to the Presidentials, I would like them more if they would vary the line drawings. I would take a I like the edge lettering and the reverse is ok. I like the concept.
I do agree that on Washington that they should have done a little better with the hair lines, It does appear that he greased up his hair and smoothed it back lol. Did you notice on the Grand Canyon that there appears to be a man walking up the side of the cliff/mountain? You would never be able to tell if you didnt have a loupe.
I got mine on Tuesday afternoon. I like them. I think they will look much better in silver. As far as pictures, I'm going to be no help since my wife has the camera and is on vacation.
I was thinking to myself, how many dealers/sellers on ebay will break them to get them slab as PF70s...I will not be surprised if this happened nor if there were a lot of them
