ANA Worlds Fair of Money August 10-14. Anybody planning to be there? Barring any unforeseen circumstances (such as my ultimate demise) I'll be there the 13th and 14th.

Excellent! Forgive my ignorance, what's a "page chairman"?

Pages are volunteers between 11 and 17 that help dealers by running for coffee, food, etc., passing out flyers. cleaning glass display cases, etc. I am in charge of organizing and controlling these little angels.

I am thinking of going. But I absolutely hate driving in Boston and finding a place to park. I mean a place to park that doesn't charge me a day's pay.
One thing I am interested in is the NGC walkthrough grading. It would be nice to get a few coins graded and slabbed in 24 hours. Anyone know what they charge? I expect it's $100 per coin.

The last that I heard it was about $30,000 (plus handling of course)!

    J/K it is a lot.

I won't be there, but I sure wish I could get someone to search for the 1981 ANA (New Orleans) 3-medal Convention Set for me.

Thanks for that information. It sort of seems reasonable when you consider shipping and insurance costs round trip for the regular mail in service.

    chris:
    Try contacting ANAMEDALS on eBay--
He/she used to sell ANA memorabilia, and I purchased a number of items from them--
    nice folks.

At this moment I plan to be attending that show. I'll probably be there for most of the show. I haven't finalized anything yet so it could change.

    Hello everyone,

I most certainly will be there. It is literally walking distance from my house! Hope to see some of you there with you CoinTalk.com T-shirts on, if they are ready in time. If not we should try to have a Name tag or something so we can recognize one another.

    Regards,
    Stan

    Frank,

I just ran a seller search and came up with no listing found.

Ziggy, since I often attend shows by myself (though I will have Todd doing onsite photography at my table for this show), I am very grateful when those little guys offer to get my luch! Also, I don't usually bring my glass cleaning supplies to my fly away shows, so I appreciate their cleaning my cases too from all the drooling that goes on over my cases! :D

Btw, I have a tiny pet peeve that I usually politely ask the pages to help me with. I know this probably sounds pretty anal, but when the pages pass out flyers, can they please place them IN BETWEEN the cases, rather than on top of the cases? We dealers get so many flyers throughout the day and have to continually remove them so as not to cover up what's in the cases. I know the pages are trying to move quickly through the show room, but taking that extra second or two to put the flyers in between the cases would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

As for the show, I'll be there, definitely wouldn't miss it - be sure to stop by my table and say hi! I'm actually going early and doing some siteseeing and pub crawling...

Speaking of pub crawling, hope you don't mind if I go off topic for a sec and tell a little Boston story.... I won a trip from a radio station to see Sting in concert in Boston about 5 years ago. We actually got to meet him backstage and have our photos taken with him. We also stayed in the same hotel that Sting was in, and even saw Bono (U2) coming and going. But the trip was only 3 days so we paid extra and extended our stay since St. Patrick's Day happened to be that same week and we heard that St. Patrick's Day was a BIG DEAL in Boston (that was an understatement!).

During our stay, we took the Freedom Trail (a prominent red line painted on the sidewalks throughout the city that takes you by all the historical sites) and really enjoyed seeing all the wonderful sites that we read about in our history books. Boston has got to be one of the most historical cities in the country! Then a Nor'easter blew through and completely blanketed the city with a couple feet of beautiful fresh snow. It really made Boston look like a postcard, especially the Harvard college campus.

So when we were pub crawling on St. Patrick's Day (many people start at 9am, though we waited until a respectable noon!), we had to drudge through the snow in between each pub. It also happened to be spring break that week so we saw a lot of college kids taking in the sites. At one point, we saw a group of kids wondering around looking at the ground as if they had lost something. We asked them if we could help them, and they said they just couldn't seem to find that darn Freedom Trail. My hubby and I looked at them quizzickly, thinking it's pretty hard NOT to see it since it appears prominently all over town. If it's not on the sidewalk you're on, just cross the street, and you'll usually find it there. As a matter of fact, we knew it was right under our feet and, in our slightly inebriated state, thought, geese, kids these days just don't pay attention like we did in our day! We both pointed to the ground, and said it's right there! Well, we all got a big laugh because of course the sidewalks were completely covered with snow!

    See ya'll in Boston!!!
