Is there a website that you guys would reccommend for buying Dansco Albums? Right now I am using http://www.danscoalbumstore.com/, but am not too happy with the delivery time. (Ordered Monday, has yet to be shipped). Not blaming them though...could be PayPal.
I don't know how the pricing compares, but Jerry is always prompt in shipping. Chris http://www.jpscorner.com/Dansco_Coin_Albums.htm
Sometimes Pay-pal hold,s on to the money, Which can affect shipping time Along with other headaches thats why i dont use them
All of my Danscos have been purchased from one of my local coin stores, usually as impulse buys due to their selection and the ability to handle and examine quality. Buying in hand was important after previously buying those absolute crap green intercept shield albums from the internet. The local dealers pricing on the Danscos was competitive with the internet store once you figured in shipping. Maybe a couple bucks more but close enough it felt good supporting a local business.
I just received my first crap green intercept shield album from the internet on Wednesday. What don't you like about them?
If you have a PayPal balance, payment is instant. If you use an e-check (payment linked to your bank's checking account), there's a three to five day wait for the check to clear.
I went to the Dansco website and was about to buy the Jefferson Nickel Album w/ Proof (8113) for $20.95 (Great price) then when it came to shipping it was an additional $7.30. For that price I can spend an extra $2 and buy it from my local Dealer. jpscorner is a little more expensive, same album was 5 dollars more and $1 additional dollar for shipping.
maybe you will have better luck... front and rear cover badly warping on 4 of 5 albums, all 5 have most of the glued areas coming apart. Such as the glued areas that hold the sliding clear plastic panels in place. Also edges of each page peeling back. Some less than others, one unusable after a few months. One in decent shape still. Overall a distinct impression of low quality and feeling embarrassed that I had bought such expensive junk. Sort of like the new Ford we bought a few years ago LOL Nice and shiny with big sales hype with crap quality and crap dealer service. Life is like a box of chocolates. LOL
That's no good. Everything I had read said they were really good quality, so hopefully I'll have better luck. Apparently I've had much better luck with my Ford's, so maybe I'm just a lucky guy lol.
I buy most of my coin albums used from either a dealer or at a coin show. Just check them out carefully and many I have bought were almost brand new. Most dealers just pop the coins out then sell the albums for half the price of a new one.
I think you have the right idea! I have 5-6 used albums I use for 4th tier coins. I like my old albums. They are like an old EF coin. Been around the block enough to have an air of authenticity about them. Some with collector notes in the margins from many many years ago. Meaningless to me but very cool to see.
I have ordered supplies from Brooklyn Coin Supply and swear that the stuff arrives the same day (ok maybe within 1-3 days). TC
vernoncoincenter.com ordered a Kennedy half dansco last thursday, received it yesterday. Lowest price I could find too, $21.89 shipped.
I second this, I had a similar experience with an IHC album, and am currently waiting on a 7070 from them.
i received my albums today on the 18th. I ordered them on the 10th. I ordered my through www.Brooklyngallery.com. I bought the 8113 Dansco Album (Jefferson Nickel w/ proof), paid $18.00 plus $8 for shipping. Ordered it Monday and had it on Wednesday! At first I was a little startled that it was $8 for shipping but the fact that it took 2 days was awesome! I wouldnt mind buying from them again.
I see dealers at local coin shows selling lightly used Dansco albums all of the time... usually for $5-$10 each. Might be an option to consider.
