1964 D slanted 2 + spiked

    I would like to see some opinions on this. The last picture is one with same date and mint mark to compare with.

    Looks like it took a hit forcing some of the metal into that position next to the 2.

    i concur with PMD. one of those coin counting machine mishaps we hear so much about with the wheat cents?

    Hit by the finger that curls the end of the coin roll in an automatic roller

    Appears to have been struck. I think Post Mint Damage also. IMHO

    Billyray I think has answer the question.I would have made the same comment.that is what it looks like to me.maybe Bill (FIR)will agree too?

    I agree:) Post Mint Damage. It could be a coin counting/wrapping machine but there are an infinite number of other possibilities as to what caused this damage.
