If you could post the opposite end of the coin that would help. Google "Blakesley Effect".

looks good to me. one way of getting an idea (not definite) is by putting a quarter in the missing spot. I also look for trace lines but its blurry so i cant tell if its trace or blur.

The blakesley effect is shown by the weak rim opposite the clip. In your first pic, even though it's blurred at the top, it does look like the rim is weaker.

By the way, that's a beauty!

It does not appear to be a genuine coin struck on an incomplete planchet. In fact, it is impossible as the rim opposite the supposed "clip" would not be as well formed as it is on this coin.

Also, when a blank is cut from the strip, it is only partially cut through and it actually breaks away from the strip leaving a visible line where that break occurs. That visible would be on the edge of the coin and is non-existent on this one.

The lettering close to the "clip" should become weaker and flow off the coin. The letters that should be effected in such a way are not.

It appears from these pictures to be a a fake.

    Thanks,
    Bill

Here's a penny that has a minor clip. Notice the opposite end. That is the Blakesley Effect:

right but i think you will notice that sometimes when the blakesley effect is very noticeable that people will say its clipped and partial clipped. but in actuality it just was not struck well in that part. both of mine have it so im happy.

thanks for that link though….it help alot

I have to agree with the others about this probably not being an error, if you see how the letters on this half look blurry around the clip and seem to flow into the void. on your pics it appears the letters just stop as if this damage occurred after the coin was already struck

    Thnak you.

I will take other opinions on it. I had wondered why it was sold for a total of $19.99 from Rigo's Toners. That guy has already been proved to be fake.

Looks a little IFFY, but can't say for sure or not. A nice clear photo of the whole coin front and back would be great...

Place another quarter in the clipped area and see if it is a match for the diameter.

Here you go again, opening your mouth with the little you know. You tried once to start things here because you got banned from CoinSpace and now you want to start again. I don't think you'll last very long anywhere else Jess. You start threads such as this one and when you have no backup, you hide for a while? Grow up kid.

People know I am honest and fair with the coins I sell. If you didn't like it, you could have returned it at anytime and you know that. Also, let them know you got it for that price because you begged me for it and you had no cash.

Don't forget to also mention how many people you were trying to scam off of CoinSpace and is only one of the reasons why you got banned.

The coin in question is authentic. It does not have to show a "brake" as the clips are cause by extreme pressure and sliced completely with no brake off of the piece. You can clearly see the fold marks left by the die on the affected area and the rim evidence on the opposite section of the rim.

Could you provide the proof to back up your claim?
