    How about a bet?

If it's slabbed as a proof (Not prooflike!), I'll print this post out and eat it, and take a vid to put on youtube for your viewing pleasure.

If it's slabbed as anything but a proof, you mail it to me and I get to keep it. Put your money where your mouth is.

Yep that is true it looks nothing like that on lol

Your gonna believe what you want obviously but as you can see no one seems to think it is a Proof including me.
Yes your pictures can be better but they don't need to be cause:

    It is what it is.
Or in this case It isn't what it isn't :D

Still a great coin for a good price.

I don't see it grading as a proof if it has a scratch

ice it does not "Grade" as a proof. It is a proof or it is not.
Scratches do change the grade though.

Proof is the way it's made. Even before it is "coined" it has it's metal (planchet) polished before it is stamped. That is some of what makes a proof a proof.

I agree with that but that coin looks like it has contact marks maybe from a bag. I can't imagine a proof morgan that isn't slabbed.

I am no expert on Morgan's, but I can tell you that looking through the cello of a holder is no way to examine and determine, based on reflectivity, cameo devices and/or luster, a proof from a business strike. Compound that with the fact that we are seeing photos of a coin taken through plastic and the determination get's even more harrowing.

Clearly since it has "PROOF" written on the 2x2 it must be a proof coin... Obviously you are going to believe what you want but just do a search on Ebay for "Morgan Proof" and then compare your coin to the ones there which are certified as proof coins. There is no comparison...

Bottom line is get it certified to be sure and don't be mad when it comes back MS....

    Not a proof.
None of the design is double struck. The stars on observe are too low and they're not sharp enough. Dentricles are wrong.
Prognosis this is not a proof.

Oh come on its totally a proof just look at it all shiny and crap. It's got more proof in 1/4 of the obverse than in the bottle of Jameson he and all his bros killed tonight. He even found low-quality pictures of random-year "proof" Morgan dollars to compare it to online! It's a done deal, no matter how many Morgan dollars you have looked at and/or owned in your life. His "experience", 2 BMW's, 3 fake watches and $90,000 spent on coins trumps anything you will ever be able to do in terms of telling him what the value of his Morgan is. Unless you agree with him, in which case, you are probably a "pro" at grading coins.

Legit. Too legit to quit. Believing that he bought a $1500 coin for $35, that is.

Marks really mean nothing. These coins are well over 100 years old and even the proofs can be marked up. So, I wouldn't really judge this coin by the condition. That said, I have already stated my opinion that this coin is a business strike without a doubt.
