Wouldn't surprise me. Northern GA here and I've picked up several 59's, 60's and 70's in brilliant condition as well.

I havent searched any lately....but Ive gone through like 4 boxes of halves and didnt find any silver. Got discouraged and moved back to nickels/pennies/dimes. I'll need to hop back into half searching later this year after I finish my nickel set :)

I haven't open the new rolls yet, but on the way back from the bank, I got a 1941 Jefferson at McDonalds.

So I am on my fourth box of half dollars right now and haven't found any silver or anything worth keeping that I know of besides the nicest one of each coin to start putting a set together. In this fourth box I've searched about rolls and have noticed that some of the coins are marked with permanent marker. In everyone's roll searching experience do you think this means the whole box has been searched threw? I have another one unopened still since I pick up two at a time right now. Any suggestions or feedback?

    Don't think so

I haven't found any silver in the 5 boxes that I've searched. In all of the boxes that I've searched, there have always been marked coins in the boxes. I'd love to hear what others have to say about it.

On another note, I'd just like to say hello. I'm new to CoinTalk and to coins and roll hunting altogether. I stumbled upon this thread a few months back and thought it would be something fun to do with my 6 yo son. To my suprise he absolutely loved it and I find my self taking detours to hit banks and look for loose or rolled halves. We're having a blast and have found 2 Franklins, 1 WL, and 5 '64s along with roughly 35 40%. I have been able to find 2 1967 Kennedys that I think are DDRs because the letters LF DOL in Half dollar are doubled. It's the same way in both coins along with a 1972 that has the same thing going on. Not sure if they are truely errors; I haven't seen any examples online with that exact thing going on.

There are many others here in Connecticut searching halves because the tellers are always telling me that other people have been in to buy them.

The bank I'm ordering boxes from gets them from Dunbar and so I've had no luck. Anyone else getting boxes from Dunbar and having luck?

I see marked coins with relative frequency from TD... I personally don't mark any, I think that's screwed up to mark a perfectly good coin, and I've come across some gems that weren't proofs so I didn't save them. Several of them had sharpie marks on them with initials and a date.

It's all water under the bridge anyways, I just opened an account at a local credit union that orders direct from the mint, apparently, and they will be my new source.

Went through a beat up box of nickels that the bank gave me. It was actually only 48 rolls instead of 50, so not a complete box....but close enough that I still took it :) Good thing I did!!!! Check out what I found! Ive gone through so many boxes of nickels...these are a first for me

    Lincoln Roll Searchers question?

Do you just look for the key dates, i.e 22/55/83/84/88/89/ etc.. and skip the rest or do you look through all of them? I look through all of them but wonder if I can save time and energy by not looking through ones that arent key dates.

    Suggestions?

What do you mean by key dates and 88/89 ? Are they considered key dates? I am new to this and have never heard that before.

Key Dates is a term that we use to state on a coin has a higher value or sought after than other coins of that demoniation. when I said 88/89 I was referring to 1988 w/ a reverse of 1989 and 1989 with no initials (V.D.B.)

    New to CT

Hello from Southern California. I'm new to CT and have really enjoyed reading this thread for quite some time. Been roll-searching for around a year now and got one of my best boxes in a while last week... 1 WL, 8 Franklins, 3 64's, 2 40%. Ordered another box from the same bank and am picking it up today!

Thanks Bob! Looking forward to another box... I know its wishful thinking, but I'm hoping for more of the same!

Do you guys find when you order back to back boxes from the same bank that the chances of the box being similar to a previous one are good? Or is it completely random... not really clear on how the banks source boxes.
