Thanks for taking the time to post that information. The bill is fascinating in it's period design and historic significance. I love being exposed to new areas of paper money collecting.:thumb:

Deception in coin/paper money collecting and dealing is widely looked down upon.

Payton did, by his own admission, attempt to string us along. The nice thing about paper, is the SN, you can't easily pull these games with paper, which is partly why he got caught so fast. The other reason he was tripped up was due to his lack of knowledge for how many examples of that note are known to exist and thinking he could get one by on the collectors here.

Call it what you will, but his reputation here is now suspect to me from here on. Had he prefaced that the image of the note was not his own, and simply expressed his desire and aspiration to make this note his (conceptually) most prized note or just generally written that he admires the note, even if he doesn't own it, then it would have been excusable... however he went to the effort to lift the image from CoinLink/Heritage Auctions and post it on his own Photobucket account (a copyrighted image nonetheless) in order to pretend the note was his own by covering the image url back to CoinLink/Heritage Auctions.

Look how many replies followed in favor of this note after seeing that posted, it's no wonder why, it's a marvel, a dream and a hugely important, rare and elusive note for any collector. This isn't April Fools day. His deception is an insult to those who have spent extensive time learning, saving and spending hard earned monies to acquire their own notes of 'prized' status and shared them with the online forum here.

Your really need to be cool little buddy. Do you really think that this rare note that is plastered all over the net would go unquestion for long? Do you really think I would have let this joke (which was the intent) go on for long before I unveiled the real deal??? And by the way, the image was not copied from coinlink/heritage and there was no covering up of anything. A straight cut and paste.

Deep breaths and try to have some fun pal.

I'm quite cool in my honesty pal. Your fun's up so you should be the one sweating...

Yes, it was your intent to deceive us and to go for as long as possible based on your own comments earlier in the thread.

Funny now that the pics of the note you had posted are now NOT in this thread, because you've dumped them from your Photobucket account. I know they were there, because I looked them up by the image link you used yesterday before I exposed the CoinLink URL.

This was one of those links:

It doesn't matter what I think about how long you'd let the deception go on for, you put it in play, that's enough to question your character and intent.

So let's say days, weeks would have gone by and no one said anything... you were planning on one day posting "Just kidding guys!" ? It just doesn't make sense. I like Krispy's comments. And I just like seeing what the average collector has in his binders and holders, not who can find the rarest baddest note out there that they don't have, that's not fun.

I have to laugh. There must be some past hostilities that brought this one on. Right? I just re-read this whole thing and I think there was no harm done. Clearly Payton never really went on record that he owned the note. And he fessed up that this was a joke within a day.

Like I said. This must be the result of an ongoing ****ing contest that I missed. To bad.

Nope, no ongoing/past history between us at all.

Just calling him on it and for trying to play it down now that he's in the hot seat.

Why on earth should I get the sensation that I'm on the "hot seat"? I posted this note with the clear plan of trying to get a rise out of the members and to see how long it would take for everyone identify the prank. And no Currencylover. We have no baggage that I'm aware of but it looks like we do now. Take a couple of these Krisp the next you get the sensation to incite another riot.

What you need to do is join the District Collecting Group!!
That will give you plenty of notes to look for and there are a 4 districts still open too.

so, if I may ask, what is the idea behind this? A club that puts together a specific collection of notes?

We are all collecting a type set. We're a group of people that help each other in that goal. Everyone has a different District as there are 12 different ones around the country and we all picked what we're looking for and just try to get a set together.

I'm going for Kansas City's which are Notes with the "J" in the little circle and or have the numeral 12 which is the KC number.

The small denoms are very cheap and much easier to obtain but when you start getting back to 1950's they get tougher.

We each pick our own limits on the set.
You can do just 1's if you want or worn notes to Unc ones. It's your set it's all up to you.

I agree. This one was unnecessarily blown out of proportion, IMHO. Yes that would have been funny had he made a copy and posed with it but that might have been the line he's been accused of crossing.

More bad advice, Payton... Unless you have a pharmacological degree and are certified to dispense such drugs at the orders of a medical professional you have NO place advising anyone to self medicate nor to seek out and use prescription drugs.

Your pranks keep bombing. How much further down do you need to dig your grave to bury yourself in?
