This fellow seriously believes he's found a rare, museum quality, one-of-a-kind treasure. He also refuses to believe those folks that have advised him otherwise in fear that they are trying to "steal" his treasure.

So deluded and lost. He'll stop offering it once the fee's begin to pile up and more than likely pass it on to some relative who'll either buy into the delusion or just sell it for it's true value at the first opportunity.

It's really too bad that some of these folks (and you do encounter them in this hobby) cannot be reached or reasoned with but they are just terminally afraid that folks are out to get them.

It just makes you want to snicker.

Delusional. We've had a couple of these characters here recently. This fellow and the "Alexander the Great's Crown" fellow. Both could not accept the fact that what they had was just a fantasy that they created.

In the antiques business, I used to run into similar folks. One, for example had a signed picture by Leonardo da Vinci that had been in the family for years. When he was told that it wasn't what he thought it was, he got extremely angry. He had been to several other shops and art galleries and was told the same thing. He, too, was under the assumption everybody was trying to rip him off. It wasn't until my partner, removed the picture from the frame and showed him it was a reproduction (complete with a Woolworth's price sticker) that he finally accepted the fact that he had been told a story by his grandfather.
