I scoured the internet and compared this 1929-S Buffalo Nickel to other dates I have and I can not find a single picture or other coin that has this extended under-feather. I looked on eBay and I did see a double feather for my year & MM , but it was less extreme than mine. So Nickel experts , please help me on this one.
The under-feather area is raised on this particular nickel and runs the length of the bottom feather. Look at the area I have outlined in red on the coin in question and then look at the area outlined in red on every other Buffalo Nickel I can find a picture of.
That's why i was asking, the outlined area on the second photo is there an all buffalos. But you say yours extends to the bottom of the regular feather, right?
well, I have one like it too. I am joking...I do not. I am blurry eyed from looking at this nickel too long...ahhhh yours actually does look like it extends further down..could be..but just could be damage also...this coin looking can be tricky..hope it is!!
You would be surprised at what photos can be found of someone that you knew if you buy old High School Yearbooks online.
