I have an 1892 CC Morgan Silver Dollar with the number 13 inscribed on lady liberty's face and other than that it appears to be in VG condition. Could someone give me a ball park figure as to it's value? Don't know how much the inscribed numbers would de-value it? A couple of photos are attached.

    Thanks for your help

I don't know about anybody else but I can't even see the coin in your pictures. I can barely make out the 13 on the one though and it would probably reduce any value to bullion content.

you would have people tripping over eachother to pay bullion for that.

If it was real, maybe. But no serious collector would buy it even at melt.

Depending on how the number 13 is written/stamped, you would have a good chance selling it to the right target demographic here in the Los Angeles area...

    HUH?

And Doug I would buy it for melt if it's real for sure. Does that make me not a serious collector :D

No. It just shows that you really are weird after all :D

My point is that a serious collector would not want a coin for his collection that has been damaged in this way. He would rather have a very worn, harshly cleaned or scratched example than he would have one that was defaced in this manner.

It would kind of be like buying a rare painting that had been spray painted by gang members. Who would want it ?

Well you got the weird part right :D Just don't turn me into a bunny please :p

And your right about that is not in what I would consider going in "my collection" but would fit great in the sell for profit one day pile if I got it for melt :D

I dunno Duke, seems to me a bunny would be a huge improvement over a jar of Mayonnaise :D

    Lmao ms-13?
Please they don't mark coins. That's an older defacing. It was a gamblers good luck coin.
PS those bangers are educated on how to make money they wouldn't deface their own coin.

I would give you $30-$40 for it just because I have a large inventory of raw CC. Most people won't buy it though

I wasn't implying that a gang member marked it. I was just agreeing with one of the posts that it would be easy to sell in LA. Because of our rich culture of violence and drugs:high5:

see. im not sure how serious a collector gdjsmp is referring to but some people would still want this coin. if this was my coin i would call being offered bullion by a dealer an insult because that dealer is not going to sell it as a bullion coin. even i have been intrigued by one dealers bent 1875 cc seated dime for 20 some.
