Canerrcoins, what is the weight on your 1742 8R? It looks suspect to me. This would directly affect value.
This is a 1950 5 Pesos Mexican Commemorative Coin The coin weighs 28.8 grams and is 40 mm in diameter. quoted info from an NGC Set Registry
I have no scales available, however the coin was authenticated by a world coin person. I believe it to be real and matches known authentic examples. Could you point out what you see that makes you suspect please. Thanks in advance.
Here's a few of mine. Sorry about the first three pics, my camera needs an attitude adjustment. I had to convert to black and white.
If the coin was authenticated by someone in hand who is an expert, then I would trust that. I was concerned about the coin because of the following: There are a lot of bumps in the reverse fields, which do not by themselves condemn the coin but bring the possibility of casting bubbles. There is some deterioration in the reverse florets, especially the one between the mint mark and VNUM. The weakness of the coin at the right side of the date could be evidence but this can also be explained by weakness in the initial planchet or if this coin is in fact a sea salvage.
Good idea for a thread Krispy. Wish I was at home tho cause I would post more. Oh well, guess that's how the pics get posted.
Many great examples being posted above. A few more: And a coin that serves as a reminder that it wasn't until 1867 that Mexico was able to expel the French completely.
Good stuff Fret. This is turning out to be a great thread! Feel free to keep adding pics as long as you all like to keep this party rolling!:thumb:
The first time I noticed the bird was just when I was taking pictures of it. I've owned this note for ages and never saw the bird!
Hey! It's a good thing you had an excuse to pull the note out today! I love seeing things I've owned for a long time for the first time all over again. :thumb:
