I searched one box last night, no war nickels either, but I had 17 38-49, and 16 50-59 so a little better :) I also filled a hole with a 48S, amazing how good that feels. Excluding the war nickels I think I have 6 holes left.

Not sure why you designate "S" mint marks....they are common. But WOW, CONGRATS on the 1888 IHC. I have never found one. Nice boxes. I also notice you didn't find any Presidency Cents from 09......I find that interesting because I too, have not found a single one in circulation.

Nice find on the IHC, I have not found one either. Funny about the presidential, I went through about 4 boxes before I found any, but in the last two boxes I have found maybe 8, so they are hit and miss.

I just picked up my first box of half dollars from the bank today at lunch. Can't wait to get home and look through them!!!

Ya, they are pretty common but I just like saving them lol. A penny saved is a penny earned :) and I havent found any presidency cents from circulation yet. My other total finds for 2009 cents are:

    Log cabin-23
    Rail splitter-66
    Professional-8

Box of halves...nothing but a 2010 D. Quite a change from my last box of 42 silvers. Oh well, luck was bound to end sometime. Also went through 2 boxes of nickels, no wars though. Have 4 boxes of pennies left to go through. Have 6 boxes of halves for next Wed, hope I get lucky again.

north49guy....1888 IHC, wow!! I've never found an indian head in circulation. Great find.

You guys who just go and get like, thousands of dollars in half dollars at a time amaze me.

    $140 searched through, nada.

    A 2010 D! I didn't know those were out yet.

I save them too, in fact I save almost all the really nice, very little wear cents I find. Cool to have and cost so little, even if they are never worth anything it will be cool for my kids to have 70 year old uncirculated coins...

Found more 2010 D shields today, what should i do with them?

I found around $30 in rolls of the 4th release 09's last weekend too, some have older coins in them too, not sure why. And 2 boxes of nickels yielded 1 44 P, its been $500 or so dollars in nickel and i've found only 1 silver and no pre jeffersons, nickels are drying up for me :(

Planning on going through a box of cents soon, will post any goodies

A whole Box? that is crazy since they can only be bought at a premium. I'd like to get one if I can, for my Dansco.

Hello everyone I am new to roll searching so here is my question. I went threw 2 boxes of half dollars and did not find anything silver. I started making a set since I needed some motivation to keep searching. In your experience how often do you find silver and how many boxes do you go threw until you find the silver. Are there any other suggestions anyone has for me on what else to do? Or what else is important to look for?

    Welcome to the forum Billyd624!!!!

Here are my stats on half dollars:

129.5 boxes searched (I'm halfway through a box, will finish tonight). I have found silver in 64 boxes, just short of 50%. My average is 3.88 silvers per box. with approximately 80% of the finds 40% silver and 20% of them the 90% variety. However, I have had two long shutout streaks, one of 9 boxes in a row and another just recently had 13 boxes in a row without any silver. So, keep at it, the finds will come if you are consistent. Good luck.

I started a set of kennedy halves as well (just in a binder w/ 2x2s, not an album). I went through two boxes of halves and filled all the common dates, no silver, no '87 and only a couple post 2002. I'm thinking roll searching may be more of a winter hobby for me.

    I've searched three boxes, 5 90's, 6 40's, 3 oddities, $50 worth of silver.

    Welcome to CT !

If you read back through this very thread , you will find a pretty good list of other collectible features to look for in those half dollar boxes besides just silver.
I think bobbeth87 posted a list of errors and varieties to look for in this thread about 1-2 weeks ago.

    Again , Welcome !
