I'm betting, due to the economic down turn, the first parks quarters produced have a good chance of having the lowest mintages. Unfortuanately, probably the highest rate of hoarding too. As for mint products, could be low, could be high sales if many don't want to be left out like they were in 1999.

The first coins from the first year of this new series will likely see the highest mintages. Just look at the numbers for 1999-2001 state quarter mintages compared to the later years.

This was true of the presidential dollar series too. They made an gigant-normous amount of Washingtons, Adams and Jeffersons. Because there are no banks ordering them and supplies are plenty to last 10 years, the Mint is able to offer them via the Direct Ship program.

  5. The economic environment is much different now than in 1999. Mintages of circulating coins have plummeted over the past few years. I will be very interested to see the mintages from the ATB quarter series. TC

Got my order of the two-bag, 100 each, P & D Arkansas Hot Springs Quarter last week. First impression: as flat and boring as the artist renditions. After a closer look found it is interesting that the lettering in outer ring is incuse. I'll have to study it some more. Maybe it will grow on me. Definitely not for nature lovers.

When you guys buy these rolls, do you leave them in the white US Mint box, or take them out and store on your own? Just curious and why do you either take the out or leave them in the box? Thanks

Have received shipments on subscription program for the 2nd, 3rd & 4th ATB quarters. The design is growing favorably on me since the first one. Wyoming is my favorite so far, was just going thru Yellowstone last Spring on the day the lightning struck at Old Faithful on the day before the release ceremony. Glad we were taking a late lunch inside and missed the hail, etc.
So I'm wondering if Yosemite is the only beautiful place in California. Its a shame they copied the same place depicted on the statehood quarter.
And its too bad they were pressed for time or something and didn't search for a more grand view of Arizona's Grand Canyon. It needs more obvious perspective hints, something like trees, animals or people to help visualize the scale. An obvious choice, but again a duplication of the statehood. My biggest disappointment with the ATB's will be repeating elements from the statehoods, but I'm really looking forward to the ones that will be unique.

Huh? The ATB quater looks nothing like the State quarter. NOTHING.

FINALLY found some yesterday. I got four BU rolls from the bank as well as a couple of loose ones. They were Yellowstone D mint.

The states are not picking what to put on the ATB quarter....remember, it is in order of when the National Park came into existance. CA has many other national parks, but Yosemite came first. The fact that it was also on the state quarter makes no difference (it is a very different view), because CA is not choosing Yosemite the 2nd time around....it was assigned.

I got a whole bunch of Grand Canyon quarters, but that was at the bill machine at the Philadelphia mint. Guess which mint mark they had?

No it was not assigned. While the designs were done by the mint, and the parks are being honored in the order they became national parks, each state got to choose which park from their state wold be honored. California choose Yosemite. If they had chosen a different park California simply would have come later in the series.
