Should Lady Liberty replace the presidents on all U.S. coins?

    Where is "don't care"?

I voted "don't know" only because "don't care" was not an option. As long as coins work in day to day commerce they could depict a jug of molasses for all I care. The aesthetics of coin design are of little importance and any meaning is lost on most people. Anyone calling for a return to silver circulating coins needs to look at a recent quote on the metal. Are you suggesting a billon-type coin or coins so small as to be impossible to use?

The value of the dollar would change if we went back to a silver standard so you could have the same sizes if wanted.

I'd like to see Liberty replace the ugly coinage we've suffered through the past 100 years. Coins should be a thing of beauty, and so far we haven't had any beautiful presidents.

As I have said before - be careful what you ask for.

For those of you who are not aware of it the powers that be at the US Mint read this forum. And you might not like what you end up getting.

I love the Jefferson nickel and the Kennedy halves and collect them addictivley. Lady Liberty to me will never be grander than she was on the Early halves and the early Large Cents. IMO we have quite enough change going on with our Quarters and Dollars program to keep up with. Then again I would love to see the magestic and mighty eagle(my favorite) soaring through the reverse of our nations coinage.:D

If we made old Gold coinage in copper and silver, the denominations wouldn't be far off base value. The change the fractional coinage to aluminum.

I'd love to see a copper dollar in the size and design of the draped bust Large Cent. Then $2.50, $5, $10 and $20 silver in the size and design of the old Gold.

I just did a rough calculation and this makes silver coins worth bullion at just about $60/oz.

Has anyone liked what we've had? More interestingly, I have to wonder which esteemed Mint officials are reading our neverending rants. They must not have enough work to do. Thats an argument for budget cutbacks :D

    Medal of Honor Recipients

We should replace the presidents with Congressional Medal of Honor Recipients. We don't do enough to remember them as it is and this would introduce true American Patriots to our youth.

Yes, they have liked it actually. As for who, I can confirm it goes as high as Assistant Director level, and perhaps even higher.

And it is work - market research ;)

Hmmm. In that case, any Mint officials reading this, I'll provide valuable customer insight for, lets say, samples of your products to review and keep :D (ps...I've not tested your gold products made after 1905...hint hint!!)

If I had only one criticism of the mint, it's when they chose to issue an entire stock of a coin through a single 3rd party source. Any product the mint makes should be available directly through the mint for at least one year or until the entire issue has been sold out through normal processes.

Since you must be referring to the bulion coins, the mint couldn't handle it.

From the feedback I've been hearing on mint orders, I'd say you are right on the money. While i have had extremely good service with all of my mint orders, I have not ordered any odd or large orders either.

I'll drink to that one. I would also like a numismatically-oriented committee to select designs for future issued coins, and have the public vote on their selections. It may sound a bit too much like democracy though...;)
