    Hi,

I'm hoping to use a coin to make some jewelry for my wife. I need something about the size of a dime. I plan to sand one side smooth and engrave it, so it only needs one "pretty" side. Silver would be best. Not rare or expensive or anything, just pretty and readily available.

I saw a very similar thread with great suggestions for quarter-sized coins, but I really need something dime-sized.

    Thanks!

there is someone who is grading a $3 gold coin on here. when he gets it back, i would make him an offer. its only $3 in a gold coin, probably won't want much. but after you sand one side down and engrave it, it should look beautiful! the obverse is also very nice, i think it would look better around a neck, then in his pocket..

here is my antique love token. its an 1876 seated liberty dime. is this something like what you are trying to achieve? its the one in the middle.

good luck, i am sure she will love it. only if you get her that $3 one i was telling you about! i would offer him around $2.50 since its sorta old though..

    Thanks everyone!
What's she interested in? Unique silver necklaces (so, the Au is out, sorry).
And, yes, the center photo is pretty much what I was envisioning.

Are there any fairly-inexpensive silver dime-sized foreign coins out there? The dimes will work, but I figured I'd ask...
    Thanks again.

I'd recommend the Liberty Dime (Mercury Dime.) It goes well with ladies IMO.

Beautiful dimes... if you're gonna ruin one, ruin one of the ones from the 1940's.
