I bought this dime on ebay for less than melt. It said it was an error. I'm not an error guy. Does anyone know what these scribbles mean?
pretty sure that is a ball serif mintmark…….look at the bottom of the s and see if it is split at all?
No split, but the S looks thicker at the top. What does all that mumbo-jumbo mean? What is that blemish above the A on America?
Here is a reference on it to check the mintmark closely. http://www.richardsrooseveltreview.net/1946-S.htm
I dont really think so, but less than melt is a premium initself.I think when they get ticky tacky like that its doesnt really matter. still nice pickup for less then melt
I don't know how to unebay it. It's a one day sale, with the same pics. If you win it, let me know before you pay.
The writing on the 2x2 said stage "D" which would be a late stage, so MO question would be very important. If the mintmark and the doubling of the lettering is not visible, or not very apparent, you may have it returned as "not as advertised". Jim
It is represented as such because it is a double die of the reverse, along with the RPM also. You can see the doubling of the letters of "AMERICA".
