Its not a coin. Its an Arras token on ring. A container of Arras tokens are given to the bride by the groom on their wedding day to show that he can suport his family. Recuerdo Matrimonial roughly translate to Wedding Souvenir.

I was just sent an e-mail about this ring. Something about it being made for the King of Spain of 1865??? They said the value was between 500.00 and 22,000...anyone have insight on this ring?

Hi there.... I was doing a little research on a ring I got from my grandfather & its the same one you have here. I was just wondering if you have found out any more information about it? Thanks :)

Hello, my name is Allison and I have that ring too. Did you happen to find anything about the value of it? Thanks for your time!

All of you: get it tested. The Arras token (these are fantasies and not actual coins, though they are often erroneously called coins) and the ring, if you have one, will be worth the gold value and have little numismatic value.

Any additional value will be as a jewelry item, subject to all the rules that apply to that market. I am not a jewelry appraiser, of course.

Sorry, but this is absurd on a few different levels.
    1. Regarding this "made for the King of Spain" nonsense: Spain was ruled by a queen (Isabella II) in 1865.
    2. That is a Mexican style eagle, and Mexico was independent of Spain long before 1865.
    3. Don't get your hopes too high over those crazy price quotes. I personally believe you'd be very lucky to get that $500 from the low end of the quote... if that. And if somebody offers you $22,000 for that, TAKE IT!!!
Mind you, I'm just a coin guy. Again, this an item for the jewelry market. There's no real coin involved.

Edit: I just realized I spent all that time responding to a seven-year-old resurrected post. LOL

These things do have a way of resurfacing, don't they? Oh well. The next person who finds one of these and comes here can read all this.

Its a token. Some are a % of gold, gold plated, or brass. Almost every southern CA, Ariz, Tex, coin store has some, not to speak of the souvenir shops along the Mex. coast where the cruise ships stop. usually the rings or pendants are worth much more. In the border town a short distance from me, the pawn shops have them in quantity.
