Has anyone attempted to create a Quarter Eagle set 1908-1929 or have one? I'm thinking about trying to make a complete set. It's in a decent price range, all mintage below 1mil and only one coin that's very key 1911D. I just wanted to know if anyone has tried this before? Thanks!
Of course it has! http://www.pcgs.com/setregistry/Composite.aspx?c=96 And has been completed many times. Don't know what grade you are going to do all of this in, but I would certainly recommend getting the coins pre-graded by PCGS or NGC. I started out my original set at AU55-58, moved up to MS62, and had to sell the one I had, as I needed the cash. Indian Quarter Eagles are a fun series to collect. Have Fun!
T$ like a lightening bolt from the heavens descending on all thinks Quarter Eagle! :thumb: For the OP, there's a really, really nice 1926 here you can set your sights on! hya:
Keep in mind that the mintmark is raised from the field in the Pratt designs whereas the remainder of the features are sunken from the field. Therefore, if you go for circulated coins you will encounter the loss of detail in the mintmark very quickly.
