First, great close up pics. That's really tough. I looked at your pics and the pics in the Cherrypicker's Guide for a few minutes and I can't make a definitive call either way. I'm leaning towards it not being the DDO 2-O-V. The T in LIBERTY just doesn't seem to match up. But then I look at the date and I can see it, but then I look again and then I can't... sorry... I can't decide, hahahaha.
agreed. it's really hard for me to tell. I am going to say it's not because there is no doubling in " In God We trust" http://www.lincolncentresource.com/doubledies/1936doubledies.html hope I am wrong on this one for you -Shrek
In Billy Crawford's book on Lincoln Die Varieties, one of the diagnostics is that there should be a horizontal scratch from the top right of the crossbar of the "T" to the "R" in TRUST. Also, the broken "R" in LIBERTY on your coin doesn't match up with the plate photo. Chris
I believe it's a doubled die and a possible class V! hub doubling extra thickness on the letters with no notching or serif's, and that's the case with class V! hub doubling. I would say a doubled die, but i don't know what variety it is. Jack
