    Nicephorus I / with son Stauricus 802-10AD

Hilarious story about this dumb emperor.

There was a pesky Bulgar King named Krum. He kept raiding into Byzantine territory/ finally the Emperor had enough. He gathered a large army to teach Krum a lesson. The Emperor and son led their forces deep into Bulgaria. Krum and his forces wisely retreated. When the Byzantines reached the Bulgar capital Pliska/ they raped/ murdered/ pillage it. Then loaded wth booty they marched back to Constantinople.. Krum seeing the aftermath of the sack of Pliska was red with rage. He then ambushed the Byzantines and wiped them out. Krum decapitated the emperor and later used his skull as a drinking vessal:inpain: 1fbfda10d10a8eb44dde1c50e76cf712 (1).jpg
