If you don't want to look, it says:

So which bill will come next for a makeover?

"We have not made any final decision about what denomination we will do next," said the Fed's Mr. Lambert.

    ______________________________________________________________

Could this mean they are pondering a $1 or $2 bill redesign? I don't think it could be a $1 bill redesign, due to the fact that Congress keeps passing legislation to block the redesign of the $1. But maybe they are thinking of redesigning the $2 bill. Otherwise, why would they say "We have not made any final decission about what denomination we will do next"? Why would they said anything about making a decission on another denomination getting a makover now that the $5, $10, $20, $50, and now the $100 has had makeovers?

Here's hoping that they redesign the $2 bill and release the new design $2s before they release the new design $100s. :hail: I'm sure they could design, unveil and issue a new design of a lowly denomination like the $2 bill, in 10 months time, right? :D

I know. But they could change their mind any time on redesigning the $2, as there are no laws passed, barring the redesign of the $2. The $1 bill is a different story though. Also, I'm not saying they are redesigning the $2 will be redesigned, however, why would they say:

So which bill will come next for a makeover?

"We have not made any final decision about what denomination we will do next," said the Fed's Mr. Lambert.

that sounds like, to me anyway, that they are going to add the blue/black 3d stripe thingy to another denomination. IMO.

It means exactly what it says: They don't know which denomination will be redesigned next. And that makes sense, because the next redesigned denomination will be part of the *next* design generation, and that's so far off in the future that nobody knows yet what features those notes will have, let alone what order they'll be issued in....

I'd love for it to be the $2, but my guess is the $20 or $50. I think the larger denominations will get the 3D security strip.

In my opinion the $1 bill should be kill, lets use the dollar coins. Redesign the $2 so that it resembles the rest of the currency. Add the 3D strip to the $20 and $50. No need to add it to the $5 and $10. Heck, the $5 didn't even get color shifting ink.

I wonder of the $1 redesign keeps getting shot down because it would pose a monumental nightmare for vending machine companies. I don't know what the machines read on the bills. I do know ours at work will not accept the newer $5 bills but will take the older ones. If the same happens with ones it would destroy the industry.

I'm sure that every manufacturer of the coin/bill changers for vending machines has access to latest chips available for the scanning devices, but they are just too cheap to buy them. They're like the automakers with the internal combustion engine.
