Bob, is that 1922-S ArtR's coin or former coin?

Tom, that is owned by Toneddollars. I imaged it a couple of years ago and as far as I know, Jack is still the owner. He may have acquired it from ArtR.

OK, you're wrong. That ain't it -- it was more target toned.

And here's a member of the infamous NGC hoard (there are a number of these coins, all in similarly-numbered NGC slabs, which some collectors believe are AT):

I dont know how in the world that Anaconda coin could trick that many pros.
What happened to them, why did they close down? I remember when I first started collecting I stumbled onto their website and couldnt believe the prices.

If you read the entire thread in the PCGS forum, you will find that Anaconda bought the coin from another dealer and they did not attempt to trick anybody. They closed down because the owner, Adrian Crane, decided to retire and move to Costa Rica. His return from Costa Rica and the story that accompanied it on the NGC forum left me feeling that he was a very bizarre individual.

They did sell many of their coins for moon money but in my experience, their prices for rainbow toned material was no higher than anyone else in that niche of the market including Island Coins, DeFalco Numismatics, and even more mainstream dealers like Legend Numismatics. Take a look a Legend's current offerings from the Bryan Sonnier collection. Don't get me wrong, the coins are nice, but that is moon money.

When they first closed up shop I was a little upset because I was a regular customer. After a while I began to realize that many of the times I was being outbid on Heritage auction lots it was by Anaconda who would in turn make me pay full retail if I wanted the coin.

Adrian was crazy but I'm saying that in a good way.
He knew how to stir the pot and had fun doing it.
His threads brought out so much that you could not help but learn something.
At the end I'm not sure he treated everyone fairly, Brandon comes to mind.
Very few will ever know the truth of everything that went on with Adrian.
One thing is for sure. He had some really cool coins.

A combination of greed and inexperience, IMO.

Larry, that is very pretty. Not only is it a Type II with terrific clash marks, but the color is great.
