Oh please! This crap about the crime in Chicago is really getting old. You act as if you live in the Gaza strip. Let me clue you in. Every city has bad parts of town just like Chicago. I live in Atlantic City. If you think Atlantic City is some kind of paradise untouched by crime, then you are the one who needs to get out and see the rest of the country. Chicago has the south side and Atlantic City has back Maryland. What I do know is that millions of people visit Atlantic City every year and many of them carry large amounts of cash on them. Certainly more cash than your flea market vendors, and I have never in 15+ years heard a casino customer tell me about being followed home from the casino and robbed at gunpoint. And to my knowledge, the OP lives in rural Indiana, hardly the haven of modern day urban violence like Chicago.
So just take a walk towntown at night here. Or along the Lake front. Or in many of the Western Suburbs. Nothing to loose.
Just last week, a guy was followed and robbed at a red light of his Casino winnings. You hear of this in Las Vegas more now than before, I think. But I never leave with large amounts of money. On the rare occasions that I did win a small pile, I made a big show of depositing some with the Cashier. Then went back with my son or someone to get paid later.
I always used to go with my dad years ago. Even after I retired, I would go with him whenever I had the chance. He loved them. I will always cherish that time we would have together. He liked the old things from his childhood era and knew what things were even if the person selling it had no idea. It's a nice way to spend an afternoon, for sure.
Yeah, no thanks and I don't walk around Atlantic City either. My point is that you are exaggerating the risk. You know where the dangerous areas are and as long as you avoid them, you significantly lessen your personal risk. As for being followed home from a flea market, that is paranoia, plain and simple.
I have to say this,No matter where you go there is crime, their is gun point robbery's & death. And some dont realize it is some of the smallest areas that have the sickest criminals.its better to know things to look for,so this way you dont become a victim. There is no "exaggeration" of risks.only knowledge, and thats what this forum is about, right? people learning the risks about involvement in coin & coin related environments.
People just need to be aware of their surroundings. Crime is always a possibility, but there are thousands of people selling coins at flea markets all the time without problems. Just be careful.
