Personally, I don't like anything of them. They all depict peace between the Native American people and the whiteman, which is a farce seeing how the government broke nearly every treaty ever entered into with the Native Americans.
Why not go with NA-03 then? It portrays the statue honoring them as well as an important site. I am also wondering what the inscription says at it appears to be in Wampanoag.
I agree. I really like NA-03. Overall I really like the NA Dollar, even if they did take in my opinion, one of the greatest images of the eagle off the reverse. I will continue to collect them regardless of the design.
I concur. More of the same modern day re-invention of history. I feel nauseous seeing these. Perhaps NA-03. But frankly, all of the designs look sophomoric like Microsoft clip-art to me.
Perhaps you guys would like to turn back the clock. Perhaps we should say "do over" and instead of commemorating a treaty that resulted in a major holiday on our modern calender, we should have the native American slaughter and drive off every European colonist that ever arrived in the New World. If that were the case I wouldn't be writing this response...and neither would you folks.
I am not thrilled with any of them, of the ones shown, number one will do. I think that a problem is that the designs seem to be more the work of illustrators than of sculptors, which probably lends itself to low profile coins, but it loses the dimension of life that a sculptor might bring to the work.
Of course I wasn't suggesting that either! My primary point was that it burns me up a bit with all this modern-day politically-correct revisionist stuff going on.
That's because they ARE the work of illustrators, not sculptors. Most of the designs from the mint now are from their artist outreach program, and they are all artists that specialize to two dimensional art not three dimensional. In the whole history of the program only one of the artists have been graphics art or computer image artists. One was actually a medalist and I believe he is no longer in the program. Kind of made sense. You want designs for LOW relief coins, use artist that specialize in NO relief art.
