2003 D Missouri State Quarter Wear and tear?

I know this could be wear and tear or maybe tampered with but wanted to confirm. Just curious about the strand along the edge that blends with style of its image. Thank you!

Kind of looks like a small dent on the rim in that area. That leads me to think PMD but it’s hard to tell as I just woke up.

 

I see what looks like damage in the area.
But I don't think that is what it is. I am thinking a folded finned rim from the photos provided.
