I haven't been able to find much of anything on Ebay that I like so I bought a Whitman Numismatic Journal to read. I had no idea they were so small: 5x 7" and, for this issue, 57 pages. But there's a lot in it and not too much advertising. These must have been great for train commuters. You could easily spent a hour reading one and without your elbow breaking the plane of the psycho-rider sitting next to you.
They are great, I believe the entire sets was from: Vol. #1 January, 1964 - December 1964 and last set was: Vol. #5: Jan to Dec 1968.
I subscribed to The Whitman Numismatic Journal for the whole time it was published and still have a number of them. I think it was created to compete with the Numismatic Scrapbook Magazine which had been around since the 1930s. Unfortunately the Scrapbook had had its day, and the Whitman Journal failed along with it. I remember I lost one issue when I was in high school because the dog ate it. I'm not kidding.
I read the last few years of Numismatic Scrapbook before they went under. I think Amos owned them at that time. I thought it was pretty good.
