I'm not sure but maybe these guys are starting to sell some things at more fair pricing. I am watching them hawk the complete set of Eisenhower dollars (32 coins) for $399.00. This includes the proofs, 8 bicentenials and some silver coins. Would this be a good price?
A complete Ike set has a Greysheet bid of $150 and most folks have to fight mighty hard to get that much for them.
Ah almost fooled again. I've never bought from these guys and there is good reason for it I guess. Thanks for the insight.
I use these guys, alot of times as, a benchmark...... http://www.mintproducts.com/complete-32-coin-set-of-ike-dollars.-includes_proofs.html I have seen 'em cheaper though. HSN more competitive? Nah.......
But guys it comes in the red oak box!!!! That's got to be worth $180 at least. I love the way th guy says red ooooaaaaak box. Thanks for the link Greenie.
Most of the time they try and get double off of anything they sell and Try and throw a few tid bits in for good measure, So just when you think Your getting a deal your really not !
They've offered reasonable deals in the past. It's like anything else such as E-Bay. There's crap and there's good stuff. I remember during the first Lincoln penny offering - there was a certificate for a free ANACS grading, etc. It turned out to be a good deal. Look for their "deals" on rolls of circulated morgans, franklins or peace dollars. You'll discover that their prices aren't that bad. And they offer a full return policy.
That has been my observation also -- double the normal price with nice packaging. But as long as the quality is high [I have no way of knowing whether it is] I can forgive them for the price because they are selling complete sets to folks who might want the coins but have no idea how else to go about it.
One good deal I have seen was the 2008w silver eagle with the 2007 reverse durning the early months I believe the price was $229 bucks in a pcgs 69. They were going for at least that during this period. The guy flashed them for about 5 seconds and said they had a few and to "get them while you can." I would have to think real hard to come up with another good deal.
That's a great example. I had asked in a related thread long ago and nobody could come up with any deals that they personally benefitted from in buying from HSN. I am sure that these examples are few and far between. Perhaps they sold the 2008w buffalo gold for less than the astronomical prices of today. TC
