The coins aren't fraudulent. Calling something "First Strike" is fraudulent because the mint doesn't designate any coin as first strike and the ones certified as such are as likely to be the last strike from a set of dies as they are to be the first.

The designation "early releases" is the term that NGC came up with after they were sued for using the term "First Strike". It implies that somehow a coin that is mailed to the buyer before other coins are mailed is worth more. I think that distinction is meaningless, but others are free to disagree.

I think its a great option the companies offer. I dont buy those coins or rather dont pay a premium for them if I do get them, but when having my coins graded I get them designated ER or FS because I know someone will be willing to cop the extra cash for it and it hardly costs me anything to get done. I agree though, shouldnt be any real difference in the coins.
2010 buffalos comeeee onnnnnnnnn!!!!!! are they out yet? lol

It's sad that some people will pay more for these coins because of the label designation. It's also terrible for the TPGs to play off customer weaknesses and in so doing, making if acceptable for dealers and individuals on the secondary market to do the same. This only hurts the hobby and may in time undermine the authority of the TPG or their reputation.

NGC was sued successfully for using the designation "First Strike". Does anyone know how PCGS continues to get away with it?

You anti-PCGS FS label folks make me laugh.....you still think people don't know the true meaning after 5 years...........:D

Is there anybody at CT that doesn't know the real meaning of the PCGS FIRST STRIKE LABEL after 5 years ???? Its ok to admit you don't know if you don't know.......:goofer:

ALL my Buffalos have the FS labels BECAUSE I LIKE THEM....nuttin' to do with when they were struck. Been knowin' that for 4 years now........:hammer:

My opinion...there's only 1 First Strike coin per new die......:kewl:...JMO

Why does it make you laugh? It's designed to create value out of nothing. If you want to pay extra for it, that's YOUR problem.

So tell me, if you're so smart and in the know, what do YOU think the FS designation means?

Why is that worth more money?

But that's only your extra cost to have the label put on. Coin dealers charge up to $200 more for coins that have the designation.

The dealers don't put guns to the buyers head and make him buy it.
The buyer buys it bc HE WANTS IT......:high5:

By the way, they charge more than $200 on the '08-Ws.....
