how do you spot fake Trade Dollars, anyway?

    Dannhnx, welcome to CoinTalk, and thanks for posting a fake Trade Dollar that has just about everything possible wrong with it: bad letters and numbers, edge reeding, dentils, and a hybrid type 1&2 reverse! It has the weird surfaces I like to call Beijing mint frost. A real tour de force!

    yes the surface is very awkward and your description is spot on. What gehts my attention first was the 00 of the 900. if have never seen this type of lettering before on any fake trade dollar

    they weren't paying much attention to the size of their number punches, just grabbed one out of the drawer, LOL.

    Beat me to it Doc. Yeah absolutely bad in every way. Wrong combo obverse and reverse. Casting pits. Horrible denticles and just a totally off look of both surfaces and details
